As a child, I can remember studying the illustrations on face cards.  I loved how they each seemed to have their own personality.  I was always suspicious of the Jack that seemed to be such a third wheel.  When I started make my own face cards (see below) I realized who Jack was!  And don’t we all agree that the Ace should be a face card?!

Rachel’s Sister ACEO

She knew “Rachel’s Sister” wasn’t just what people called her, it was one of her personality traits as well.

After painting “Rachel’s Sister” I noticed that she was a little bit boring and realized she must just be in the shadow of a more popular sibling.  I then remembered a story from the Bible about a girl, Leah, that was completely in the shadow of her hotter more popular sister, Rachel.  I think a lot of us with siblings can relate to being (fill-in-the-blank)’s sister (or brother for that matter.)
